Presentation: This training touches on ethical considerations in peer-assisted recovery. This will be an interactive training session with lots of group problem-solving and discussion.  It will review the basics and current ethical situations recovery supports face in daily interactions. You will become familiar with White's ethical decision-making tool and practice using it to better equip you for your work.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain why ethics are important for peer-assisted recovery;
  2. Define ethics; and
  3. Explain possible ethical considerations for digital support.

NH Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider. ACEP No 6754. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NHADACA is solely responsible for all aspects of the program.

Josh is a person in long term recovery and a person with justice involvement.  He is an active member of the recovery community in New Hampshire.  Josh is a proud AmeriCorps Alum where he served alongside other members throughout the state in different Recovery Community Organizations for the Recovery Corps program. 

He has worked in both peer support and treatment spaces. He worked at SOS Recovery Community Organization where he provided peer support for individuals who had justice involvement. He was a team member of Strafford County Drug Treatment Court as their Peer Support Liaison and over saw other peer support workers in 4 other treatment courts throughout the state. He was also a Training Coordinator where he was mentored by Jim Wuelfing on both training and creating curriculum. Josh has trained over a hundred people during his career.  

Since shifting from direct peer services, he has started working in the treatment space. He has worked as a Business Development Officer where he knows firsthand the importance of ethical considerations He is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for Addiction Recovery Services. Helping people be prepared for the recovery field work force is one of his biggest passions.  

John Iudice, LICSW, MLADC

John Iudice has worked for over 20 years with adults and adolescents with substance use and mental health problems in a variety of settings, including inpatient detox programs, residential programs, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication assisted treatment programs. He has in depth knowledge of the behavioral healthcare system, insurance plan coverage, and various treatment options and settings available to people.  

Currently he is the owner and clinical director at Addiction Recovery Services providing intensive outpatient programming and in home interventions to individuals and families impacted by addiction and mental health diagnoses. He teaches a LADC and MLADC test preparation course for NHADACA. John has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of New Hampshire Master of Social Work (MSW) program. He developed and instructed a course in Treatment of Addiction and Assessment of Addiction and also teaches advanced counseling courses for UNH. He has provided licensure supervision, trauma informed care and motivational interviewing trainings and consulting for many local organizations. He is invested in decreasing stigma and improving access to various treatment options for all those impacted by substance use and is a person in medication assisted recovery.
