Presentation: Social service agencies offer a broad spectrum of programs and services to a wide variety of clients and their ages. Since suicide is a major public health issue, social service agency staff should be trained to recognize individuals at risk for suicide and learn strategies for connecting them to help.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. List at least 2 risk factors for suicide;
  2. List at least 2 protective factors for suicide;
  3. List at least 2 warning signs for suicide;
  4. List at least 3 skills for intervening with clients or others at risk and connecting them with appropriate resources;
  5. Summarize strategies for communicating with parents/guardians/family members or other support persons during crisis situations;
  6. State insights into confidentiality requirements and communication with others involved in the client’s care or treatment; and
  7. Describe community resources and strategies to increase suicide prevention efforts through the integration, coordination, and collaboration of community services (schools, mental health, law enforcement, social services, faith communities, etc.).

She is committed to ensuring that all Granite Staters have access to mental health care and support, striving to create a more inclusive and understanding community.

Meredith's professional interests are diverse, encompassing support for individuals and families dealing with chronic health conditions, end-of-life issues, caregiver distress, grief, anxiety, and depression. Her empathetic approach and dedication to her field make her a vital resource for those navigating the complexities of mental health and wellness.
